Department of Physical Education

At SRCC the endeavor of the Department is to achieve excellence in sports. Participation in different sports fosters leadership, teamwork, discipline, and confidence in the students.  The focus of the Department is on gender equity and diversity in sports, to ensure a friendly and fearless environment and to instill the values of fair play and sportsmanship in students.

The department offers opportunities and facilitates the participation of students in sports tournaments and championships at College and University level in numerous games like Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Ball Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Chess, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Handball, Judo, Korfball, Netball, Softball, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Taekwondo, Yoga, etc.

SRCC students have shown their mettle in games, like Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Chess, Tennis, Softball and Baseball, and bagged medals at national and international tournaments/championships.

4. To promote physical and mental well-being of students.

6. To develop leadership skills and foster qualities of co-operation, tolerance, consideration, trust and responsibility through sporting activities and events.

7. To provide a release of students in order to refresh them for academic work.

8. To develop individual and teams in games with high skills so as to achieve excellence.

The sports committee exists as an affiliate of the department of Physical Education and Sports. It is a students’ body comprising of sports secretaries and coordinators. The basic functions of the Committee are to organize sports tournaments at intra and inter college level, sports carnival, managing of sports publication and coordination among different sports teams.

It provides students an opportunity to build their organizational, leadership and team-building capabilities.

The college has impressive state-of-the-art sports infrastructure comprising of multipurpose sports indoor stadium and vast lush green open field. 

The multipurpose sports stadium is centrally air-conditioned to provide high level of comfort to the players and spectators.  The central court is made of high-class maple-wood and designed for games like Badminton, Basket Ball, Table-Tennis, Wrestling, Judo, etc. 

The seating for 1200 persons is evenly distributed and designed for best viewing of the event from any position.  For the players, spacious changing rooms and showers have been provided with hygienic public conveniences.  Multi-gyms, sports injury & rehabilitation center and medical room are the supporting feature of the infrastructure.

The Fitness Center is located in the multipurpose hall in the sports complex. The Center cater to Free Weights Exercises, Bodyweight Exercises, Gym Ball Exercises /Swiss Ball Exercises, Resistance Band Exercises, Resistance Machine Exercises and Stretching exercises, and also hold classes for yoga and aerobics are some of the facilities available at the center.

The Fitness Center has two separate sections:

Cardio section: Treadmills, elliptical trainer, cycles etc.

Weight training section: Olympic weight lifting weights, exercises stations, Swiss balls etc.

The Department provides Physiotherapy services to staff and students along with other basic medical facilities.

The Physiotherapy section has an Electrotherapy room and an Exercise therapy room.  Electrotherapy Room is equipped with all the basic physiotherapy modalities (i.e. IFT u.s. TENS, Muscle Stimulator, SWD [short move diathermy], Traction Machine, wax bath therapy and hydro collator) meant for pain relief and relaxation.

Exercise Room has the basic exercise equipment (i.e. Shoulder Wheel, Wrist Exerciser, Ankle Exerciser, and Foot Exerciser) along with resistance band loops, Swiss Balls, Foam Rollers, Base Balls, Medicine Balls, Weigh Cuffs and newly placed RIP-60 trainer (suspension trainer) for rehabilitation and training purposes for student sports players.

Activities

The Sports Committee, Shri Ram College of Commerce under the umbrella of Department of Physical Education organized the Sports Fresher’s welcome to give a warm welcome to the students of 1st Year under sports quota who made it through the tough competition in trials. 

The Sports Committee organized SRCC's Intra-College Swimming Competition on September 01, 2015. Various swimming races in an array of styles such as Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly Stroke were held.

The Invitational Inter College Basketball Tournament for Men and Women was hosted by SRCC in the Indoor Stadium from September 02-09, 2015. Kirorimal College (KMC) and Ramjas College grabbed the first position in Men & Women Category respectively. The Basketball teams of the College stood second in both the categories.

The Intra College Tourney was held from September 14-16, 2015. More than 600 students participated in over 10 sports including kho-kho, gully cricket, tug of war etc.

An Intra-College Tournament with table tennis, badminton, carrom  and chess was held from October 06-08, 2015 for the PwD students and  non-teaching staff and from October 15-18, 2015  for teachers.

The Sports Committee organized the Festival of Youth Sports (FOYS) in the College from February 01-04, 2016.

The Opening Ceremony had Mr. Unmukt Chand; a promising Delhi batsman & Suhas Khamkar; weightlifter. The Fest was jointly declared opened by the Principal, Dr R.P. Rustagi and Unmukt Chand. The major events were Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Chess, Athletics, Ball Badminton, Carrom, Mini Marathon & Cyclothon. A Cultural Night was organised on February 02, 2016.

For the Closing Ceremony, Asha Aggarwal, Assistant Sports Director Delhi Administration was the chief guest. She emphasized the role of sports in college life in her speech and guest of honour was Dr. Anil Kalkal, Director .Delhi University Sports Council. 

SRCC entered teams in the following games: In Men Section Archery, Swimming, Athletics, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Cross-country, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Netball, Shooting, Softball, Swimming, Squash Racket, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball & Taekwondo.

In Women Section Archery, Swimming, Athletics, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Chess, Cross-country, Diving, Football, Judo, Netball, Shooting, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Taekwondo & Yoga.

In Men Section team consisted of Nishant Malhotra (Captain), Yogesh Gautam, Rishi Thariani, Ankit Gajwa, Vaibhav Suri, Prince Bajaj and Abhijith. They won Gold in Inter College Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from September 28 to 30, 2015 and grabbed the First place in Festival of Youth Sport 16 (SRCC).

Awarded with the title of Arena Grandmaster by the President of World Chess Federation (FIDE) Mr. Kirsen Ilyumzhinov 2016.

Participated in Commonwealth Chess Championship Delhi from June 22 to 30, 2015.

Participated in Saharanpur International Rating All India Open Chess Tournament held at Saharanpur from September 9 to 13, 2015 and secured 15th Rank.

Adjudged the Best Delhi Player in 13th Delhi International Chess Tournament January 2015 held at Ludlow Castle Civil Lines.

Participated in National Challenger Chess Championship 2015 held at Nagpur.

Adjudged the Best Delhi player in 3rd Chess Specific Open Fide Rated Tournament held at March 2015.

Participated in Orissa Grandmaster Tournament held at Bhubaneshwar from May 24 to July 02, 2015.

Participated in Chennai Open held at Chennai January 01 to 09, 2015.

Yogesh Gautam

Participated in Barbera international Open Chess Championship held at Barcelona Spain 2015 from July 4 to 12, 2015 and got first place.

Participated in Porto Open at Portugal, Dutch Open at Netherlands and Riga Open held at Riga Lativia from July 13 to 20, 2015.

Represented India in Moscow Open Chess Tournament from January 30 to February 08, 2016.

Participated in Cappelle International Chess Championship held at France from February 10 to 20, 2016.

Participated in Cannes open International Chess Championship from February 22 to 28 held at Cannes, France.

Represented Delhi University in All India Inter University Championship from January 20 to 25, 2016 held at Bihar, and got 3rd Place. He was the Captain of Delhi University Team.

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University Championship held at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi from October 5 to 9, 2015 and got 1st Place. He was the Captain of Delhi University Team.

He was also awarded by Haryana Government on 26th Jan and 15th August as one of the best Sports Person.

Participated in Saharanpur International Rating All India Open Chess Tournament held at Saharanpur from September 09 to 13, 2015 and secured 8th Rank.

Participated in St. Teresa All India Fide Rating Chess Tournament held at Ghaziabad from January 03 to 07, 2016 and secured 7th rank.

Participated in ESYA 2015 Chess Tournament and secured 1st Rank.

Participated in 14th Parsvnath Delhi International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament 2016 and got 1st position.

Represented Delhi University in All India Inter University Championship held at Bhagal Pur, Bihar from January 20 to 25, 2016 and got 3rd position.

Participated in 30th National Junior (U- 19) Girls Chess Championship 2015 held at PSNA College of Engineering & Technology, Dindigul, Tamilnadu, from July 23 to 31, 2015 and got 10th Position.

Participated in 2015 Asian Youth Chess Championship in Suwon, Korea from August 03-11 and got 1st Position.

Participated in Saharanpur International Rating Chess Tournament held at Saharanpur from September 09 to 13, 2015 and got 3rd Position.

Participated in LNJ Bhilwara Group Open Fede Rated Chess Tournament from October 09 to 13, 2015 and got 17th Position.

Participated in World Youth U-18 Girls Chess Championship from October 22 to 30, 2015 and got 12th Position.

Participated in 5th JRD Tata All India Open Chess Tournament from December 09 to 15, 2015 and got 3rd Position.

Participated in North Zone Inter University Chess Championship 2015-16 held at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi from 5th to 9th October, 2015 and got 1st Position.

Participated in 1st Invitational Girls Chess Tournament organized by Sri Venkateshwara College from 23rd to 25th Feb, 2016 and Got 2nd Position.

In Men section team consisted of Suryansh Sharma (Captain),  Akimjeet Singh Sohal, Khalid Amin Alawneh, Satyam Nayyar, Mayank Chaudhary, Piyush Phor, Sukrit Sharma, Erash Hooda, Daksh Jain, Arpit Khemka, Utkarsh Kumar, Kowtham and Ayush Gupta. They participated in Inter College Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from October 27 to November 06, 2015 and Won Gold Medal. They got First place in Festival of Youth Sport, 2016 SRCC, Gold Medal in BITS Pilani held at Pilani from September 19-22, 2015, Bronze Medal in YMCA inter college Tournament, Silver Medal in Dr. Bharat Ram LSR Invitational from Feb 11-13, 2016 & SRCC Invitational Tournament 2015 from September 02-08, 2015.

Our team was placed Second in Inter College Basketball Tournament held at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi from October 07-27, 2015 & first in Festival of Youth Sport (SRCC) from Feb 01-04, 2016. First in Dr. Bharat Ram LSR Invitation from Feb 11-13, 2016. Winner of YMCA Inter College Tournament. They also participated in BITS- Pilani 2015 from Sep 19-22, 2015 & SRCC Invitational Basketball Tournament 2015 held at SRCC from September 02-08, 2015 and got 2nd Position respectively.

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University Table Tennis Championship held at University of Delhi, Delhi from December 16-18, 2015 and got 1st Position.

Represented Delhi University in All India Inter University Table Tennis Championship held at R. G. P. Vishvidyalaya, Bhopal from March 08-12, 2016 and got 1st Position.

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University Table Tennis Championship held at University of Delhi, Delhi from December 16-18, 2015 and got 1st Position.

Women team members were Shipra Mahajan (Captain), Pallavi Rana, Riya Bajaj and Mahima Kalra. They got Bronze Medal in Inter College Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from Feb 01-04, 2016 and winner of Festival of Youth Sports 16 (SRCC) from Feb 01-04, 2016.

Rahul Sharma

Represented Delhi University in All India Inter University held at Chandigarh from Oct 20-25, 2015 and won 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals.

Represented SRCC in Inter College Swimming Championship and won 5 Gold Medals.

Participated in Delhi State Swimming Meet and won 3 Gold and 2 Silver Medals.

In Women’s Section team members were Divya Satija (Captain), Priyanka Priyadarshni Anjali Nair, Kavya Anand and Aashna Monga. Team won First place in Inter College Swimming Tournament held at Dr. SPM Swimming Pool Complex, New Delhi from October 09-10, 2015.

Participated in Inter College Swimming Championship and Won 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze Medals.

Priyanka Priyadarshni

Participated in Inter College Swimming Championship and Won 6 Gold and 1 Silver Medals.

Men team consisted of Nishant Dua, Shailendra, Rohan Punj, Pranav Malhotra, Kanishka Garg, Sahaj Minhas, Akshay Gupta, Manureet Singh, Dhruv, Kenneth Wong, Gaurav Deswal, Aarush Setia and they got Silver medal in Inter College Tournament held at Keshav Mahavidyalaya from November 03-10, 2015.

Women team consisted of Vaibhavi Yadav (Captain), Shivani Dabas, PN Rajalakshmi, Rimjhim Sachdeva, Anukriti Chaudhary, Bhavya Wadhwan, Suvidha Sehgal, Kanishka Sangwan, Arzu Mahendra  and Ravnoor Kaur. They have  participated in the Inter College Tournament held at Jesus & Mary College from January 15-20, 2016 and they were Runners up in Festival of Youth Sports 2016.

Women team consisted of Pooja Laddha (Captain), Himanshi Goel, Sahiba Maan, Ananya Sachdev, Deepika Soni, Ridhi Soni, Aarushi, Tanya Atree, Anusha Bhati, Princy Singh Rathore, and Mamta Mishra. They were Third in Inter College Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from Feb 15-20, 2016.

Men team consisted of Suryansh, Satyam Nayyar, Piyush Phor, Sukrit Sharma, Erash Hooda, Arpit Khemka, Utkarsh Kumar, Daksh Jain, Ayush Gupta and Khowthom in Inter College Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from Feb 15-20, 2016.

Men team consisted of Shailendra Kataria, Rohan Punj (Captain), Pranav Malhotra, Kanishka Garg in Inter College Tournament held at SGTB Khalsa College from October 27-31, 2015 and got 3rd Position.

Rohan Punj

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University held at Aligarh Muslims University from November 04-10, 2015 and was a quarter finalist in  the tournament.

Pranav Malhotra

Participated in AITA 50k Men’s Tournament held at Dhaula Kuan, Delhi from July 27 to August 03, 2015. In Singles he was a pre-quarterfinalist, & in Doubles he was a  quarterfinalist.

Participated in AITA 1 Lac Tournament held at Punjabi Bagh, Delhi from September 28 to October 05 & was a quarterfinalist in Doubles.

Participated in AITA 50k Tournament held at Najafgarh, Delhi from November 09-16, 2015 & was a quarterfinalist in Singles.

Women team consisted of Shivani Dabas (Captain), Anukriti Chaudhary, Bhavya Wadhwan and Ravnoor Kaur. They participated in Inter College Tournament held at SGTB Khalsa college from October 28-30, 2015.

Bhavya Wadhwan

Represented Delhi University in All India Inter University held at Bhubaneswar KIIT from December 25-28, 2015 and got 3rd Position.

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University held at Murthal, from  October 06-09, 2015 and got 1st Position.

Represented SRCC in Bharat Ram Sports Meet held at LSR from Feb 11-13, 2016 and got 1st Position & also the Best Player Trophy.

Represented SRCC in FOYS 2016 in Ball Badminton and got 2nd Position.

Women team consisted of Vaibhavi Yadav (Captain), Rimjhim Sachdeva, Arzu Mahendra, Kuhoo Garg and Aditi Anand. They represented SRCC in Inter College Badminton Tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from 17th to 19th March, 2016 and got 2nd Place. 

Kuhoo Garg

Represented India in The YONEX BWF World Junior Championships 2015, held at Lima, Peru, from November 04-15, 2015.

Men team consisted of Kenneth Wong, Nishant Dua, Manureet Singh, Dhruv, Gaurav Deswal, Sahaj Minhas, Aarush Setia. They represented SRCC in Inter College Badminton tournament held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from March 08-10, 2016 and got 3rd Place. Gaurav, Aarush, Manureet and Kenneth represented SRCC (A) & won Silver medal in Festival of Youth Sport’16, SRCC.

Team members were Kartik Chandra (Captain), Rahul Adhikari, Sriram Sudhir, Deepak Gehlawat (Vice-Captain), Lakshay, Abhay Mankoti, Abhinav, Ravi Hooda, Sahil Singh, Uday Sahni, Dennis Beale, Deepak Negi, Rohan Wadhawan, Jai Minocha, Shubham Thakur, Sachin Ruhil, Shorya Baliyan, Manoram, Sarthak Goyal & Vikram Kumar. Our team got 3rd Position in Inter College Football Championship held at SRCC and Polo Ground from October 06-12, 2015 and March 15-19, 2016 and got Second place in Festival of Youth Sport, SRCC.

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University held at Amity University, Noida from Jan 08-15, 2016 

Abhay Mankoti

Participated in Santosh Trophy Senior National held at Jammu from February 05-11, 2016. 

Team Members were  Paras Yadav, Affan Ali Khan, , Anas Khan (Captain), Adveth Agarwal, Vibhor Sharma, Sudan Bhardwaj, Rahul Balihara, Shahbaz Singh Brar, Trilok Chandra Chaturvedi, Utpal Dhruv, Manjeet Anjna, Abhay Mankoti, Sahil Singh and Dennis Beale. They were Fourth in Inter college tournament held at Shyam Lal College from November 07-14, 2015. 

Vikas Dahiya

Represented India as a Goal Keeper in Junior Asia Hockey Championship held at Quantan, Malaysia and won the Championship. He was awarded the Best Goal Keeper of Tournament.

Anas Khan

Represented Delhi University in North Zone Inter University Tournament held at Jamia University from Dec 28 to Jan 05, 2016.

In inter college tournament our team had Sundram, Ankit Gusain, Lakshay Gupta, Piyush Kumar, Sharad Bhave, Amit Kumar, Mayank Singh, Samarth Kuhar, Amit Yadav, Shehbaz Singh Brar. They represented SRCC in Inter College Baseball Tournament held at University Polo Ground, University of Delhi from March 02-08, 2016.

Sundaram

Participated in 30th Senior National Baseball Championship held at District Stadium, Belagavi, Karnatka from January 27-31 2016, and got 1st Position.

SRCC Cricket team consisted of Ajay Aryan, Deepesh Gaur, Dev Prakash, Varun Garg, Raaj Kumar, Ravi Kumar Gupta, Suraj Yadav, Bhim Kumar, Piyush Kumar, Gurkirat S Deol, Saurabh Singh Rawat, Gaurabh Mohta  and Sibi A R. They participated in Inter College Tournament held at SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi on September 30, 2016.  

SRCC softball men team consisted of Sundram,  Ankit Gusain, Lakshay Gupta, Piyush Kumar, Sharad Bhave, Amit Kumar, Mayank Singh, Samarth Kuhar, Amit Yadav, Paras Yadav,   Shehbaz Singh Brar. They participated in Inter College Tournament held at Pologround, University of Delhi from Feb 02-08, 2016.

Ankit Gussain

Participated in All India Inter University Softball Tournament 2015-16 held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar from February 11-16, 2016.

Participated in the North Zone Soft-Ball Championship held at Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh from November 06-08, 2015 and got Silver Medal.

Chandan Singh represented SRCC in Taekwondo Inter College Tournament 2015-16 held at Multipurpose Hall, University of Delhi from March 01-03, 2016.

1. Bonafide students and staff members shall have right to access the facipties of sports complex.

2. The complex will be available for the users from Monday to Saturday between 08:00 am to 5:00 pm. The complex shall remain closed on Sunday and official hopdays, except for special occasion.

3. The college sports team member shall have preference of using the facipties of the sports complex over the other students and staff members.

4. Entry and exit of players as a group will not be allowed.

5. The visiting team must be escorted by teacher or coach.

6. Spectators without authorization are not allowed.

7. Visitors must maintain proper discipline and decorum in the Complex.

8. Visitors should maintain proper cleanpness in the complex.

9. Use of alcohopc & tobacco products is strictly prohibited in the Complex.

10. Dogs/ pets are not allowed in any part of the complex. Violators shall be debarred from entry and/or pable for a fine up to Rs. 1000/-.

11. Arms and ammunitions are prohibited in the complex.

12. Shooting (still or video) in the complex is not permitted without prior approval of the department.

13. Visitors causing damage to the property of the college will have to make damage good/replaced.

14. Vehicles in the Complex are not allowed, unless specifically permitted. Parking should be only in the parking lot or designated place in the College Campus.

15. Pubpcity, marketing or selpng without permission is strictly prohibited. Discippnary/penal action will be initiated against such person.

16. The department reserves the rights to revoke/recall the use of facipty without any notice.

MULTIPURPOSE HALL

1. The hall shall remain functional from Monday to Saturday from 08.30 a.m. to 05.00 p.m., except during hopdays.

2. Interested bonafide students and staff members shall have right of access of hall and its facipties, subject to the availabipty.

3. The user members should carry their identity cards card while accessing the hall.

4. Before entry users/visitors should clean their shoes/sleepers on the foot-mat at the entrance of the hall.

5. Only players and officials are allowed on the central court of the hall. Entry of spectators/students is restricted on the central court.

6. Shoes with cleats, studs or hard rough surface are prohibited inside the hall.

7. Soft drinks, snacks and other eatables or beverages are not permitted in the hall

8. Players should be in required sports-wear while practicing and playing game and bring their sports kit-bag.

9. Sports equipment issues by officials should be returned by the users within the stipulated time. The users shall be pable or fined in case any depberate damage if found with the sports equipment.

10. Carrying any equipment or property of the department outside the hall without proper issue or authorization shall be deemed an act of mischief and indiscippne. Any such act shall lead to discippnary action and/or fine on the violators.

11. Defacing, damaging or mishandpng any property or equipment in the hall shall be deemed an act of gross indiscippne. Violators shall be debarred from the entry and/or fined up to the value of equipment/machine/property.

12. Use of any sports equipment/machine shall be at the responsibipty and risk of the user. The department will not be responsible of any accident or injury suffered by the user/member while using the facipty or sports equipment/machine.

13. The individual shall be responsible for the safety of his/her personal belongings. The department will not be responsible for loss or damage to the personal property of the user/visitor.

14. Users should maintain proper decorum and discippne in the hall and should not involve in any teasing, argument or brawl with any person or official. Any act of indiscippne shall lead to discippnary action or/and fine on the violators.

FITNESS CENTER

1. The fitness shall remain functional from Monday to Saturday from 08.30 a.m. to 05.00 p.m., except during hopdays.

2. Interested bonafide students and staff members should obtain the membership for using the facipty of the fitness center from the Department.

3. The user members should carry their membership card while avaipng the facipties of the fitness center.

4. The user members should wear required dress while using fitness equipment/machine. They should bring their own accessories - towel, gloves, water bottle, etc.

5. Misuse of any fitness equipment/machine shall be deemed as an act of gross indiscippne. Any user found mishandpng; defacing or damaging any equipment/machine will be debarred from any future use of the facipties of fitness center and shall be pable for a fine up to the value of equipment/machine.

6. Users should maintain perfect silent and discippne in the center and should not involve in any gossip, teasing, or argument with other users or officials. Any act of indiscippne shall lead to termination of membership or/and fine.

7. When a fitness equipment/machine is occupied by a user, the other user should wait for his/her turn. The user should not speak to the other user for his/her turn; rather he/she should ask the instructor for assistance.

8. Use of any fitness equipment/machine shall be at the responsibipty and risk of the user. The department will not be responsible of any accident or injury suffered by the user/member while using the facipty or using any fitness equipment/machine.

9. The individual shall be responsible for the safety of his/her personal belongings. The department will not be responsible for loss or damage to the personal property of the user/visitor.

10. The department reserve right to terminate the membership of any member if circumstances warrants and cease the facipties of the center at its discretion.
